The IPS is a modern, high-contrast screen with brightness that can be adjusted directly from the NDSL menu. It is larger than the original screen, has a higher resolution, and offers several display modes, such as classic and pixel grid.
The original screens, including the touchscreen, are new. If you choose an original top screen, it may have a defective pixel that is visible against a black background. IPS screens are defect-free.
An IPS screen can consume up to twice as much power as an original screen. Depending on how the Nintendo DS Lite is used (brightness, sound, type of cartridge used, etc.), battery life ranges from 4 to 7 hours with a single IPS screen, and from 2 to 4 hours with two IPS screens.
