The IPS is a modern, high-contrast screen with brightness adjustable directly via a dial on the side (replacing the old contrast wheel). It offers several display modes (classic, pixel grid, etc.) and allows for both black-and-white and color gaming, replacing grayscale shades with colors.
Two versions are available:
- The first, the Open DMG Display, is an IPS screen the same size as the original. It stands out for its numerous display options, notably the ability to use official GBC and Super Game Boy color palettes.
- The second is an IPS screen 11% larger than the original. It is also laminated, which prevents dust from getting between the screen and the lens.
Installing an IPS screen can be done on either an original shell or a new one.
