Change game

To change games, you need to press the hidden button located at the top center of the cartridge. When you press the cartridge, you should feel it "click".

You can press it with the console turned off or on.

Pressing it while playing will result in different behavior depending on the save data settings:

  • If save data is separate, the cartridge will reload to switch to the next game with its own save data
  • If save data is shared, the game will change without any effect on the screen. You can check that you have successfully changed games by turning the console off and on again

Note if you have shared save data:
It is best to change games while the console is turned on. In fact, there are two save data slots; if you change games while the console is off, the other game will not have taken into account the progress made in the other game.

Change backup management

You can change the save file configuration by opening the cartridge:

  • If you want the save files to be separate, one for each game, the top button (in red in the photo) of the first selector (the top one) must be to the right 
  • If you want the saves to be shared, the top button (in red in the photo) of the first selector (the top one) must be to the left. 
    WARNING     this configuration is only compatible with certain games such as Pokémon from the same series (Gold and Silver, Blue and Red...). This is not compatible with Zelda games, for example.

IMPORTANT: Do not touch the other buttons

The cartridges in the photos are MBC5s (Blue and Red, Zelda Oracle...), it's the same system for the MBC3s (Gold and Silver...).
